1. Introduction.
In Cool Tabs, you have the possibility to integrate Google Analytics with your campaign, so you can track the visits it receives (where the traffic comes from, how they behave...). To do this, you need the tracking ID that Analytics provides when you set up a web property.
The Google Analytics tracking ID is an identifier, similar to UA-00000000-0. The first set of numbers refers to the Analytics account number and the second to the property associated with that account. When you enter this code in the 'Cookies & Tracking code' section of your campaign edition, you will be indicating Analytics the account and property to which the data should be sent.
Keep in mind that, currently, when creating an account in Analytics, a Google Analytics 4 property is created, with a measurement ID (G-), instead of a Universal Analytics (UA-). The Universal Analytics property option is hidden under 'Show advanced options'. Whether you create a new account or a new property on an existing account, you must enable this option to create a Universal Analytics (UA-) property.
Here's how to get the tracking code provided by Analytics.
2. Step by step.
1) Log in to your Analytics account or create a new one.
When creating an account you will have to fill in certain information about it: name, domain, business category, as well as time zone and currency for reporting.
2) Go to the 'Admin' section to create a Property within the account.
You may be interested in creating an additional account, if it is a different business. In this case, we are going to create a property within an existing account.
Click on 'Create Property'.
3) Fill in the data about the property: name, time zone and reporting currency.
4) Click on 'Show advanced options'.
Remember that by default the measurement ID (G-) is created, but we need the tracking ID (UA-). And that Universal Analytics property option is hidden in 'Show advanced options'.
You can create a Google Analytics 4 property and a Universal Analytics property or create only a Universal Analytics property.
5) Enable the option 'Create a Universal Analytics property' and fill in the requested fields. You will have to complete data related to the business (size and the category of the company).
6) Get the UA code.
Once the property is created, you will have the tracking ID. You can find it in several ways:
- In the 'Admin' > 'Property Settings' section.
- In the accounts section. You will also find the tracking ID at the top of the page.
If you have any problem during the process, you can contact us at help@cool-tabs.com.
3. Other specifications.
The option to include the Google Analytics ID in the 'Cookies & Tracking Code' section of the campaign edition is available with the use of the Cool Promo and Cool Promo White Label apps, included in the Gold and Diamond plans, respectively.
