2.3. Public winners' page and certificate of validity.
1. Introduction.
Our Social Listening & Analytics tool allows you to run a sweepstake on Instagram and/or Twitter, among users who have used a specific hashtag.
This type of sweepstakes is based on content monitoring. You will have to monitor the hashtag of the sweepstakes, to collect the content and run the sweepstake among the participants.
2. Step by step.
2.1. Create your monitoring.
1) Log in to your Cool Tabs account. If you are not registered yet, you can check the tutorial: How to create an account on Cool Tabs.
2) Go to the 'Monitoring' section. You can choose a monitoring you already have active or create a new one by clicking on 'Instagram Hashtag' or 'Twitter Content', depending on the social network you have launched the sweepstake.
To create the monitoring, you can follow the tutorials below:
How to create an Instagram hashtag monitoring.
How to create a Twitter content monitoring.
There are several aspects to consider:
- Once the monitoring is created, the start date cannot be changed.
- With the last Instagram API changes, on Instagram, you can only collect content from a hashtag from 24 hours ago.
- Twitter only allows you to collect tweets up to 7 days old. Therefore, it is important to create the monitoring as soon as you publish your sweepstakes, so as not to lose data.
3) Access to monitoring.
Once the monitoring is created, you will be able to access it from the 'Monitoring' section. To check the content collected, click on the view icon, as shown in the following image.
On that page, you will have access to all monitoring statistics. If you wish, you can download a monitoring report by clicking on 'Download the reports'.
2.2. Select winners.
To start the selection, go to the 'Sweepstake & winners' section, located on the left side.
2.2.1. Twitter.
When selecting the winners on Twitter, you can apply the following filter. You can leave empty filters you don't want to use.
- Start and end dates
- Unique users. Each participant will have only one opportunity in the draw, regardless of the number of comments/publications made.
- One opportunity per comment/publication. Each comment/publication will count as a new opportunity in the draw for the user.
- Exclude winners from previous competitions. Check this option if you want users who have won other campaigns will not to be able to win again.
-
Exclude users from the blacklist by email or nick. We remind you that with our "Blacklist" functionality, you can block users to avoid them being winners. Thus, users included in the list will not be able to be winners
Once you have completed the filter fields that apply to your sweepstakes, click on 'Step 1: Filter'. Filtering will be performed among the participants who have fulfilled all the requirements you have marked.
Then, indicate the number of winners you want to draw and, if applicable, the number of alternates. Finally, click on 'Step 2: Launch sweepstake'.
2.2.2. Instagram.
When selecting the winners on Instagram, you can apply the following filter. You can leave empty filters you don't want to use.

On Instagram, it is not possible to filter by the condition of being a follower, since its API does not allow access to this information in an automated way.
2.3. Public winners page and certificate of validity.
Once the draw has been carried out, you will get a link to the public winners' page, so that you can publish it and communicate the result of the draw.
The winners' page includes the certificate of validity, which certifies that the process has been carried out in a random and transparent way.
In order for the participants to see the winners' page, don't forget to set it to public mode (as shown in the image).
In hashtag sweepstakes on Twitter, next to the winner's username, you will find the Twitter icon. If you click on it, it will take you directly to their profile. You can then send them a private message, congratulating them and giving them instructions on how to receive or collect the prize. If you click on the magnifying glass icon, you will be redirected to the publication with which he/she participated.
In hashtag sweepstakes on Instagram, the Instagram API does not provide the winner's username, but it does provide a URL. When you click on it, you will be redirected to the winner's post.
2.4. Other filters.
Sometimes, before selecting winners, you may want to pre-filter the collected content. This will eliminate unwanted content, for example, in another language or from undesired users.
2.4.1. Monitoring a hashtag on Instagram.
Go to the 'Photo Manager' section, located on the left side.
You will find the following filters to apply, related to:
- Keywords. Write text terms that have to appear in users' posts. By default, only the content with all terms entered will be included in the analysis ('AND' filter). If you would like to analyze the content with any of the terms entered, please use 'OR' separator between the words. Example: 'london OR madrid
- Users. Exclude users or set that only certain users can participate.
- Photo status. Include only posts that include a specific hashtag, or exclude posts that include a specific hashtag.
- Type. Include only post with a photo, video, or carousel.
Once you have completed the filters you want to apply, save this filtered content, give it a name to identify it, and click on 'Save this filter'.

2.5. Winners video.
After the selection of winners, you also have the possibility to generate a video with the result of your sweepstakes.
This video can be published via URL or downloaded in different formats, for posting on social networks, blog...
For more information, please, refer to the following tutorial. Winners' video: how to show the result of your sweepstakes.
3. Other specifications.
- Due to the limitations of the Instagram API, you will not be able to obtain the user ID. Therefore, the automation of participant data collection will not reflect unique users.
- For privacy reasons, you will not be able to obtain information from private Instagram profiles, only data from public profiles. For example, it may happen that Instagram shows us that there are 300 publications with the same hashtag and Cool Tabs only shows 250. This is because the remaining 50 have a private profile, and we cannot access that information.
- The use of the Social Listening tool for Instagram is included in all our plans. You can also use it within the trial days, which allows you to try for 7 days free, on any of the plans.
- The use of the Social Listening tool for Twitter is available, on-demand, in all paid plans, and has an additional cost.
- The maximum limit of content monitored on Twitter is 10,000 tweets per month per Cool Tabs account.
If you have any questions during the process, do not hesitate to contact us at help@cool-tabs.com.
