2.2. Create your sweepstake on Cool Tabs.
2.4. Winners page and certificate of validity.
2.6. How to contact the winners.
1. Introduction.
Facebook Sweepstakes app allows you to manage sweepstakes on a Facebook wall post of your fan page. You will be able to select the winner or winners among users who have reacted (like or any other reaction) and/or among users who have commented on the post.
In addition, you should keep in mind that
- Facebook only allows running sweepstakes on a fan page, not on personal profiles or groups.
- Since November 2014, Facebook has not allowed participants in campaigns and contests to be forced to become fans of a page.
- The Meta API does not offer Reels data and metrics. This implies that, at this time, it is not possible to perform automated sweepstakes on Facebook Reels.
2. Step by step.
2.1. Publish the post on Facebook.
Before using the Facebook Sweepstakes app, you must post the sweepstakes on your Facebook wall.
We show you an example:
Once published, log in to Cool Tabs.
2.2. Create your sweepstake in Cool Tabs.
1) Log in to your Cool Tabs account. If you are not registered yet, you can check the tutorial: How to create an account on Cool Tabs.
2) Create a new campaign by clicking on the 'Create campaign' button. If you are using the platform for the first time, you will directly see the app catalog.
3) Select the Facebook Sweepstakes app.
4) Next, choose the type of sweepstakes: organic or promoted.
- Organic sweepstakes: select this option if you have not promoted your sweepstakes post or if you have promoted it on Facebook after publishing it.
- Promoted sweepstakes: select this option if you have run ads and managed them directly from Facebook Business Manager. Check how to create a sweepstake among users who react to a promoted post on Facebook.
5) Associate your Facebook account. In order to collect information about your sweepstakes' publication, you need to associate your Facebook profile with your Cool Tabs account.
6) Select the Facebook page. By linking your Facebook profile, all the pages you manage will be registered on Cool Tabs. So the next step will be to select the Facebook page where you have published the draw.
If the fan page is not listed, click on the 'I can't find my page' button. You will be redirected to Facebook to check if you have given us access to that fan page. You can also check our tutorial to link a Facebook profile.
If you're still having trouble, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at help@cool-tabs.com, so that we can help you.
7) After selecting the fan page, you must complete certain information related to the sweepstakes.
- Campaign name: write a name to identify your sweepstakes internally (it will not be public). This will be the name that will be shown in the list of your campaigns.
- Sweepstakes time zone.
- Start and end date when the app will start and stop collecting data.
- How users will join the sweepstake. Specify how users participate: by clicking “Like”, commenting on the post, or both.
- Select the publication(s) on which you want to run the sweepstakes.
8) Click on the 'Save' button.
Your sweepstakes will be registered in your Cool Tabs account, participants will be collected, and you will be able to select the winners at the end of the participation period.
If there had been any likes or comments before the creation of your sweepstakes with Cool Tabs, data would be collected without any problem.
Read on to start selecting winners.
You can review the list of participants by clicking on the 'Leads' section (user icon).
2.2.1. How to add more posts to your sweepstakes.
The Facebook Sweepstake app also allows you to edit your sweepstake to include new posts. This functionality is very useful when posting sweepstakes reminders. This way, all the comments made on the new posts will be collected as well.
To add new posts, go to the list of your campaigns, find your sweepstake, and click on the edit icon. Then on 'Add more posts'. Save the changes.
2.3. How to select winners.
To select winners, you need an active plan on the platform, either paid or trial. The trial period allows you to try any of the platform's plans for free, for 7 days and without any usage limit.
Read more about the Free Trial.
To start the winner selection process, click on the 'Winners' section. You can access it from the main list of your campaigns by clicking on the trophy icon.
2.3.1. How to filter by conditions.
You can select a winner among the participants who meet the conditions of your sweepstakes. To do this, you have different filters, which you can apply and which will remove from the sweepstakes those users who do not meet these requirements.
Keep in mind that it is only possible to filter those actions allowed by Facebook's usage and promotion policies. The conditions that cannot be checked automatically (following an account and liking), you will have to check manually, once you have the name of the winner.
Some filters may not apply to your sweepstakes (depending on your entry requirements). Leave empty those you don't want to use.
1) Unique users: give one chance per user. The tool will count unique users. Even if a user has made 100 comments, only one entry will count towards the sweepstakes.
2) One opportunity per comment: each comment made by the participant will be an additional chance to win in the sweepstakes.
3) Action to participate. The participant has liked/commented/liked and/or commented.
5) Post. If your sweepstake is based on various publications, select whether you want to count entries from all publications or only from one publication.
6) Start and end date
7) The comment must contain a specific word, phrase, or hashtag. You can write several words separated by commas. This is very useful when, for example, participants are asked to comment with a specific word, depending on the prize they want to win or their preferences among the options proposed in the participation dynamics.
8) Assign extra ballots. You have the possibility of assigning extra ballots for the sweepstakes to those users who, in addition to having performed the action or actions you set as a condition, perform other actions:
- If it is a sweepstake based on comments: you can give extra ballots for the sweepstakes to users who have included a particular text. (The filter for awarding extra ballots is only available from Gold Plan onwards).
- If it is a drawing based on likes and comments: you can give extra raffle tickets to people who have liked, commented, or included in their comment any of the words (separated by spaces) you have set (the filter for awarding extra tickets is only available from Gold Plan onwards).
- You can also give ballots to participants who have included a word that you set.
9) Exclude winners from previous competitions. Check this option if you want users who have won other campaigns will not to be able to win again.
10) Exclude users from the blacklist by email or nick. We remind you that with our "Blacklist" functionality, you can block users to avoid them being winners. Thus, users included in the list will not be able to be winners
After completing the filter fields that apply to your sweepstakes, click 'Step 1: Filter'. Filtering will be performed among the participants who have fulfilled all the requirements you have marked.
Finally, indicate the number of winners you want to draw and, if applicable, the number of alternates, and click on 'Step 2: launch sweepstake'.
2.4. Winner's page and certificate of validity.
Once you've chosen the winner/s, you will get a link to the public winners' page, so that you can publish it and communicate the result. Copy and paste the link to the winner's page to publish.
The winners' page includes the certificate of validity, which certifies that the process has been carried out in a random and transparent way.
In order for the participants to see the winners' page, don't forget to set it to public mode (as shown in the image).
2.5. Winners video.
After the winner selection, you also have the possibility to generate a video with the result of your sweepstakes, showing the title of the sweepstakes, the prizes, and the winners/substitutes.
This video can be published via URL or downloaded in different formats, to be published on the wall or in Stories.
For more information, see the tutorial Winners video: how to show the result of your sweepstakes.
2.6. How to contact the winners.
