If your campaign is set up in multiple languages, you can upload a different image for each one. In this tutorial, we explain how to do it step by step.
Before you start: make sure your campaign has the languages you want to use configured. The multilingual image options only appear when the campaign has more than one language defined.
Step by step
1. Access the images section of your campaign
Within your campaign editor, go to the Design > Images/Videos section. You will see the different available image fields (main image, background image, mobile background image, etc.) and, next to each one, an icon with flags. That icon is the access to the language-specific image manager.
The multilingual option is available for all images in the campaign, not only the main image. The procedure is the same for all of them.
You still have the option to upload a single image, even if your campaign is in multiple languages. This is what we call the default image, and it is managed the same way as before: a single image valid for all the campaign languages. If this covers your needs, you don’t have to do anything else.
If, on the other hand, you want to customize the image according to the language, continue with the next step.
2. Upload images for each language
Click the icon with flags located next to the image field you want to customize. A popup will open with a block for each language configured in the campaign.
Upload the specific image for each language you want to customize.
Once uploaded, you will see a thumbnail of each image next to its language, with a button to delete it if you want to replace it or go back to using the default image.
When you finish, close the popup. And save the changes made to the campaign.
3. Check the result in the preview
You can now preview the campaign and switch languages to verify that each one shows the correct image.
Other specifications
Keep the same dimensions between the different variants to avoid visual jumps when changing languages.
Mind the file size: although only the image of the active language is loaded, optimizing all variants improves the overall experience.
Review the preview in each language before publishing to make sure everything looks as expected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to upload an image for each language? No. Only the default image is necessary. The language variants are optional, and if you don’t upload them, the default image will be used as a fallback.
Can I add variants to a campaign that is already published? Yes. You can add, modify, or delete language variants at any time.
Does it work on all campaign images? It is available on practically all images that can be configured (main image, background image, mobile background image, etc.).
How do I delete an image for a specific language? Reopen the popup from the flags icon and click the trash button under the image of the language you want to delete. From that moment on, that language will revert to using the default image.
