1. Introduction.
When you create a quiz with the Cool Promo and Cool Promo White Label applications, you have the option to configure the feedback option after answering. The objective is to indicate to the participant if the answer he/she has marked is correct or not. In addition, a text explaining the correct answer is usually included.
This is a very popular feature when setting up a points-based quiz, but it is also possible to display feedback in quizzes that do not assign points for correct answers.
Below, we explain how to set up feedback and the types of messages you can display.
2. Step by step.
2.1. How to configure the feedback feature.
In the 'Quiz' section > 'Advanced' tab, check the box 'Feedback message after answering'. This will allow you to indicate whether the participant has answered correctly or not, as well as to display a message. The correct answer will be marked in green and the incorrect answer in red.
Depending on the type of quiz you create (based on points or without points), you can configure different feedback (display text and images).
When you enable the feedback feature, in the Question section, a new tab will appear to customize the feedback you want to give.
2.2. Feedback in a point-based quiz.
When checking the option 'Quiz with points for right answers and 'Feedback message after answering', in the 'Feedback' tab of each quiz question, the following options will appear:
- Full-screen feedback message.
- Correct answer if the text matches (for answer type is textual, in which participant has to write the answer).
- Image to be displayed as soon as the user answer the question.
- Text to be displayed if the answer is right/wrong.
In this way, once the user clicks on an answer, you can instantly indicate whether he/she has chosen the correct answer or not and even give him/her an explanation of why it is correct or incorrect.
2.3. Types of feedback in a point-based quiz.
2.3.1. Feedback for right/wrong answer.
If you only want to indicate which answer is correct and have it marked in green, without showing any other message, just check the option 'Feedback message after answer' and assign points to the correct answer. Incorrect answers will be marked in red.
In the following image, you can see an example of how it would look like.
2.3.2. Message when right/wrong answer.
If, in addition to displaying in red and green the correct and incorrect answers, you want to show a different text if the participant fails or succeeds, fill in the fields 'Text to be displayed if the participant is right' and 'Text to be displayed if the participant fails'. Do not forget to assign points to the correct answers.
You can complete both messages or just one (when the participant is right or fails).
In the following image, you can see an example of how it would look like.
2.3.3. Full-screen feedback.
When you activate the feedback option in your quiz, you can configure it so that the feedback message is displayed on full screen. Check the 'Enable full-screen feedback' checkbox.
In addition, you can choose an input and output animation of the message that will appear to the user.
In the following image, you can see an example of how it would look like.
2.3.4. Show an image when the user answers the question.
In addition to the text fields to show when the participant is right or fails, you can include an image, which will be displayed when the participant answers.
In the following image, you can see an example of how it would be displayed.
2.3.5. Correct answer if the text matches.
You can also give feedback on questions where the user writes the answer and the text has to match exactly.
The option 'The answer will be marked as correct if the answer text is an exact match' appears if you have enabled the textual answer type. You can include a message, which will be displayed when you fail or get it right.
For instance, if this option is marked and "London" is one of the possible correct answers, "london", "London.", "London!!" will be the correct answer; "London city", "London or Liverpool", "I think it's London" won't be correct.
In "Free text" type answers (e.g.: What is the capital of England?) answers can be added (which are not shown to the participant), and the administrator can assign points/categories, so that if the participant writes such answer(s), he/she gets those points.
2.4. Feedback in a quiz without points or categories.
It is also possible to display a message after the user answers quizzes where no points or categories are assigned.
In the 'Quiz' section, check the option 'I do not want to assign points or categories to the answers'. And, in the 'Advanced' tab, the option 'Feedback message after answering'.
In the case of quizzes without points, the feedback options are somewhat more limited:
- Text to be displayed when the question is answered: you can include text, image and/or GIF.
- Full-screen feedback message: you can set the message to be displayed in full screen. Animation effects can be included.
- Image to be displayed as soon as the user answers the question.
2.5. Feedback in a personality quiz.
Another option is to configure feedback in personality quizzes. To do this, in the 'Quiz' section, check the option 'I want to create a personality quiz'. And in the 'Feedback' tab, enable 'Feedback message after answering'.
As in quizzes without points or categories, in a personality quiz, the feedback options are limited to displaying a more generic message when the participant marks an answer. It is also possible to display that message in full screen and include animations.
