2.2.3. Advanced options per question.
1. Introduction.
With Cool Tabs, you can create a knowledge test or trivia quiz to challenge your audience on any topic, in an entertaining and competitive way.
You can award points for each correct answer, show immediate feedback after each response, set a time limit per question or for the entire quiz, and link participation to a prize draw — open to all participants or only to those with the highest scores.
2. Step by step.
2.1. Create your campaign.
The first step is to create your campaign and configure the basic settings. If this is your first time using Cool Tabs, the following tutorial walks you through everything you need to get started:
How to get started on creating a campaign: basic settings.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach us at help@cool-tabs.com.
2.2. Configure the quiz.
'Basic settings' tab
Go to the 'Quiz' section of the campaign editor and check the option 'Quiz with points for right answers. I want to assign points for answering'.
In this same tab, you can also configure the quiz display structure:
Show each question on a separate page, with personal data on another. This is the default option. Questions are shown one at a time (step by step), and the personal data form appears on a separate page.
Show all questions on a single page. The participation form and all questions appear together on one page.
Show personal data first, then the quiz below. Only available when all questions are displayed on a single page. In step-by-step quizzes, the data form always appears at the end — asking for it upfront can lead to drop-offs, since participants don't yet know how many questions they'll need to answer.
Once you enable the points-per-correct-answer option, additional settings will become available in other tabs:
'Advanced' tab
Feedback message after answering. Lets participants know whether they got it right or wrong. See the different feedback types in the tutorial How to give feedback to users when they answer a quiz question.
Move to the next question automatically after answering. Makes the quiz feel faster, as participants don't need to click "Next" after each answer. If you want to show the correct answer and an explanation right after the participant responds, leave this option off.
Show total number of quiz questions.
Number of random questions. If you want each participant to answer a random selection of questions, specify here how many will be shown per participation.
'Participants page' tab
Show each participant their own score. Participants will be able to see the total points they earned after completing the quiz.
Enable a public page with a summary of all answers.
Display participants' answers publicly.
Show answer summary upon submission. Once the participant submits their answers, they will see a summary page showing which options the rest of the participants chose.
2.2.1. Questions.
Add and customize your quiz questions: type the question in the corresponding field and, if needed, include a supporting description. If the question must be answered, enable the mandatory option.
2.2.2. Answers.
In the 'Answers' tab, select 'Single answer multiple choice'. Write each answer option and assign it a score: leave it at 0 for incorrect answers, or assign at least 1 point for correct ones. You can award more points to harder questions.
You can add as many answer options as you need, and each one can include an image or video. The available fields are:
Answer. The text of the answer option.
Enable free-text answer field. Lets participants write their own answer if none of the options apply (similar to an "Other" field).
Image accompanying the answer.
Show a video with the answer?
Image or video description. Explanatory text displayed alongside the visual element of the answer.
See all types of questions and answers you can include in a quiz or survey.
2.2.3. Advanced options per question.
In the 'Advanced' tab of each question, you can enable the following additional options:
Answers to this question will be public. Options marked as public will be visible to all visitors.
Show question on the answer summary page. Uncheck this if you don't want this question to appear in the final summary.
Randomize answer order. Answer options will be displayed in a different order for each participation.
Time limit (in seconds) to answer the question. If you also want to set an overall time limit to complete the quiz, see the tutorial How to set a time limit to answer a question or complete the quiz.
Visible only during specific dates. Useful if you're running a multi-phase campaign, or if you want certain questions to appear only during a set period.
2.2.4. Design.
In the 'Design' tab of each question, you can add visual elements:
Image accompanying the question. Recommended size: 628 × 353 px.
Question background image. You can set a specific background image for each question. Recommended size: 810 px wide × unlimited height.
Here's an example of how a trivia with single-choice answers, a GIF as the question image, and an active time limit looks to participants:
2.3. Other settings.
2.3.1. Final screens.
From the 'Final screen' section of the editor, customize the message participants will see after completing the quiz. You have two options:
Different screens based on score. This is the most common setup for a trivia. Enable the option 'Display a customized final screen depending on gamifications, quiz results (point or personality tests) or validated coupon' and click 'Individual final screens management'. Add as many screens as score ranges you want to cover, and set the minimum and maximum points required to trigger each one.
One screen for all participants. If you only need a single message regardless of the result, configure a default screen that all participants will see.
For more detail, see the tutorial How to configure the final or results screens.
2.3.2. Winner selection.
If your trivia is linked to a prize draw, once the participation period has ended you can select the winners directly from the platform. See the tutorial: How to select winners and obtain your Certificate of Validity.
3. Plans and requirements.
Knowledge tests and trivia quizzes are available through the Cool Promo and Cool Promo White Label applications, included in the Gold and Diamond plans, respectively.
