One of the main goals of interactive marketing campaigns is lead generation. To achieve this, when setting up a giveaway, contest, or other promotion, it's essential to decide how participants will register. This registration not only lets them take part, but also helps you, as the campaign administrator, to identify users.
Below are the different registration options you can enable in a Cool Tabs campaign.
3. Email registration with code.
3.1. Differences from anonymous email registration.
4.3. Additional specifications.
1. Registration via email.
The participant accesses the campaign by entering their email, with no need to register through a social network.
Advantages
Accessibility: it's an entry point for users who don't want to link their social networks, or who don't have social profiles at all.
Simplicity: it makes participation easier, since there are no permission requests that could put users off.
How to activate it
You need to enable the anonymous login option (i.e., without a social network) in the campaign editor.
How to activate anonymous login or registration without social networks in a campaign.
1.1. Email verification.
Despite these advantages, email registration has one drawback: because it lets any user participate simply by filling in the form themselves, it increases the risk of participants using fake emails.
To reduce that risk, you can enable email verification. This feature requires the participant to access their email account to confirm the address they provided when registering. Only once the email is confirmed will they be counted as a campaign participant.

2. Social login.
Another registration option widely used by brands in lead generation campaigns is social login, which lets participants access the campaign using their social network credentials.
Take advantage of our integration with various social login systems to authenticate your users and gather their social data.
With Cool Tabs, you can enable social login with Facebook, TikTok, Twitch, LinkedIn, Instagram*, Google/Gmail, Microsoft/Hotmail, and Yahoo.

*Instagram login
Currently, Instagram only allows login as a registration option for professional accounts or content creators. This means users need a professional Instagram account to take part in campaigns that use Instagram login.
If you're planning a photo or video contest on Instagram where users log in with Instagram to select a post from their profile, you can still avoid using Instagram login directly as the campaign's registration method. In that case, you don't enable Instagram as a registration option — instead, you use "Ask the participant to select one of their Instagram posts". Participants connect their Instagram account from the participation form to select their post.
Advantages
Easy authentication: take advantage of the integration to authenticate users and gather their social data.
Compatibility: this type of registration can be combined with email registration.
3. Email registration with code.
This option is a genuine email login, where the user enters their email before completing the participation form. It's a more robust and secure system that uniquely identifies participants.
It's especially useful for:
Multi-participation campaigns.
Campaign groups.
Advanced features such as point accumulation or custom rankings.
How it works
The user clicks "Participate" and a modal window appears with the configured registration options; in this case, the email login option will be shown.
The user enters their email in a simplified form.
A 6-character code is sent to the email provided, which the user must enter to continue.
Once verified, the user can complete the participation form.
How to activate it
You need to enable the Email with code option in the 'Registration' section of the campaign editor.
Additional specifications
Currently, the email used to send the code isn't configurable.
This option can be combined with anonymous login. In that case, we recommend adjusting the design and text of the buttons to avoid confusion.
3.1. Differences from anonymous email registration.
Anonymous login is simpler, but doesn't guarantee the email's validity. Email registration with code, on the other hand:
Verifies identity using a code sent to the email.
Ensures a unique registration.
Makes it easier to track users across interrelated campaigns.
4. SMS registration.
This option allows a real login with a phone number, where the user enters their mobile number before completing the participation form. It's a secure, reliable system that uniquely identifies participants.
Advantages of SMS registration:
Unique identification of participants.
Collection of users' mobile numbers.
Greater security through a verification code.
Fast, convenient access for users.

4.3. Additional specifications.
The SMS message used to send the code can't be customized.
To use this option, you need to have the SMS package activated on your account, which may involve an additional cost.
5. Single Sign-On (SSO).
Most brands have user or member areas that require prior registration. That's why, when running interactive content campaigns on digital channels, more and more of them choose to activate their own identity system via SSO (single sign-on).
SSO registration lets brands manage and control the identity of participating users, and lets users log in with a single username and password.
This way, when a user accesses the campaign, the brand can be sure they're already one of its registered users and, therefore, authenticated.
Advantages
Identify registered participants: ensures only pre-authenticated users can take part.
Unify data: integrates identity data with your IAM provider.
Compatible integrations
Cool Tabs lets you integrate your SSO strategy with our platform and unify your global audience's identity data with your IAM provider. We integrate with any IAM, such as Gigya, LoginRadius, or any proprietary SSO.
