In December 2024, Facebook retired its old login method called Instagram Basic Display API. Instead, it introduced a new method.
This change affects the login with Instagram as an option to register for a campaign, which has some limitations, which we explain below.
Login with Instagram: implications for campaigns
In the Register section of campaign editing, you will find the “Login with Instagram” option available.
However, you should keep in mind that, if you enable it in your campaign, only users with a professional Instagram account (such as business accounts or content creators) will be able to participate with their Instagram account.
UGC campaigns (User-Generated Content)
If you are planning a photo or video contest on Instagram, in which users must log in with Instagram to be able to select a post from their profile, it is advisable, given the limitation of use for business accounts, not to use the registration option with Instagram.
Instead, you can use the "Ask the participant to select one of their Instagram posts" option. Participants connect to their Instagram account through the participation form to select their posts.
