2.2. The administrator uploads the content.
2.3. Users upload the content.
1. Introduction.
Cool Tabs allows you to create a voting contest based on the ‘Pick your favorite’ concept. Participants have to pick their favorite option from various suggestions. You can run interactive voting based on battles and relate them to your products, brand, or sector. Publish the voting, so all users can see the ranking with the most popular votes.
The 'Pick your favorite' mechanics admits two possibilities:
1) The campaign administrator uploads the content that will be voted by the users, as a poll. This option does not require users to fill in any registration form to participate, but you can enable it. Users just need to vote for the contribution they want.
2) Participants upload the content (and fill in a data form), so that the rest of the users can vote for their favorite, during the period of time that the campaign administrator enables. There are two types of users: participants and voters.
2. Step by step.
The configuration of a voting contest will depend on the type of campaign you want to create: the administrator uploads the content to be voted, or the participants upload the content, and a voting period is opened.
2.1. Create your campaign.
First, you must create your campaign and configure the basic setting. Is it your first time creating a campaign with Cool Tabs? In the following tutorial, we will show you how to configure the basic sections of a campaign, as well as other recommended settings, to ensure its proper functioning and maximize results.

2.2. The administrator uploads the content.
2.2.1. Survey type 'Pick your favorite'.
In this first option, the participant chooses among several options, configured beforehand by the administrator, through a quiz.
1) Create a quiz
Go to the 'Quiz' section of the campaign editor and check the option 'I don't want to assign points or categories to the answers'.
You can add a question as a statement about the voting.
In the 'Answers' tab, set as many answers as participants have options to choose from. Select the 'Single answer multiple choice' option and add the answer options. You can add an image or a video to each answer option.
Below, you can see an example of how the voting page would look like.
3) Show a summary of the answers
You have the possibility to show a summary of answers on the page after participating. This way, after participating, the user will be able to see how the voting results are going.
To enable the summary of answers, in the 'Quiz' section, click on the 'Entries page' tab and check the 'When participants submit their answers, they will see a summary of the answers of all participants' checkbox.
In the question settings, in the 'Advanced' tab, don't forget to check the options 'Answers to this question will be public (visible to everyone)' and 'Display this question in the summary page of answers given by participants'.
Below, you can see an example of a summary of answers, which is shown to the participant on the final screen.
2.2.2. Voting contest (with a public gallery).
In this second option, the administrator uploads the content to be voted by the users as if he/she were the participant. In addition, a public gallery is enabled with voting options, and a voting period is opened.
1) Enable the photo upload
Go to the 'Entry form' section, 'UGC Campaigns' tab, to activate the photo upload. This way, you will be able to upload the images as an administrator.
2) Make your uploaded content visible
In the 'Participations' section, 'Entry list' tab, activate the option 'Enable public participations' and the content gallery. This way, users will be able to see the contents you upload as administrator, and they will be able to vote for their favorite.
3) Enable the voting period
In the 'Votes' section, check the option 'Enable voting for entries' and set the voting dates. In this way, users will be able to vote on the content you have uploaded.
- Remember that in order for the user not to be able to participate, but to vote, the participation dates must already be closed, so as not to coincide with the voting dates.
- If you have only enabled the anonymous login option in the campaign registration, it is automatically enabled so that the user can vote by giving their email address. They can vote with their Google/Gmail, Yahoo or Microsoft/Hotmail account.
In addition, you can set limitations and other filters for voting.
- Show to all users who have voted for each entry in the competition (their avatar and name will be displayed).
- Apply the anti-fraud system to voters: under the previous options, you can restrict voting to certain countries, block voters from possible exchange networks, block fraudulent votes, and those votes that come from the same IP for the time you specify.
4) Upload the content you want users to vote for
Save the campaign configuration and access the preview. You can access from the campaign edition, by clicking on the 'Save and Preview' button, or from the control panel, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon.
Once in the preview, click on 'Participate' and 'Participate with anonymous mode'. You have to upload each piece of content that is going to be voted on later by the users. You will have to participate from the preview with anonymous mode as many times as necessary to upload all the options that users will have to vote.
2.3. Users upload the content.
This option is a classic photo, video and/or text contest. A participation period will be opened, so that the participants can upload their content, and a voting period so that the rest of the users can vote for the content that the participants have uploaded.
Once the basic sections of the campaign have been configured, you must activate the uploading of content (image, video or text) by the participant. This is configured in the 'UGC Campaigns' tab of the 'Entry form' section.

Once the participation period is over, you will be able to select the winners.
To start the selection, you can consult the tutorial: How to select Winners and obtain your Certificate of Validity.
3. Other specifications.
In voting contests, to avoid fraudulent practices by users, it is recommended that the selection of the winner is determined not among the one who gets the most votes, but by a random draw among the N participants who get the most votes.
The Cool Promo and Cool Promo White Label applications, included in the Gold and Diamond plans of the platform, respectively, are the ones that will allow you to configure this type of voting.
You can also create a 'Pick your favorite' campaign with the 7-day free trial, which allows you to test any of our plans.
