Participations management: differences between reject and delete entries

1. Introduction.

In Cool Promo or Cool Promo White Label campaigns, you have the possibility to make visible the users' participation. This usually happens in user-generated content contests (photos, video...), in which, in addition, a voting period is usually opened.

Although the participations are public, it is possible to manage these participations, moderating them before or after they become public.

The option of moderation before entries are made public is advisable in content contests, where it is important to check that entries meet the requirements and that the content is not inappropriate.

When moderating a user's entry, there is often confusion between two options: reject or delete an entry. Below, we explain what these actions consist of and what consequences they have for the user and the campaign.

2. Step by step.

2.1. Differences between reject and delete entries.

2.1.1. Reject an entry.

There may be various reasons to reject a participation. One of them can be, for instance, that it doesn't meet the requirements or the legal conditions.

When an entry is rejected, it is hidden and no longer appears in the entries list.

Therefore, the participant will not be able to be chosen as the winner with that entry.

If, in addition, in the 'Restrictions' tab of the 'Participation' section, you have indicated that 'Users can participate just one time during the campaign', the participant will not be able to participate again, because there is already an entry in the contest, even if it is hidden.

2.1.2. Deleting an entry.

When an entry is deleted, it is completely removed from the entries list. The user will be able to participate in the campaign again without any problem.

Why is an entry usually deleted? One reason, for example, may be that the contestant asks to delete the photo or video he/she uploaded because it is wrong and he/she wanted to participate with another one.

2.2. Where to reject or delete entries.

You can manage the participation from the 'Leads' section. You can access it from the main list of your campaigns.

Once there, you will have access to the list of participations.

To reject participation, in the 'Status' column, click on the X symbol.

You can reverse the process and re-accept an entry at any time by clicking on the green tick symbol. The participation will count again for the drawing.

If you want to delete it, click on the trash icon in the 'Actions' column.
