3.2. Set your quiz questions and answers.
1. Introduction.
With Cool Tabs, you can set up dynamic questionnaires and surveys, as well as 'Choose your own adventure' style quizzes, in which the questions are conditioned by the answers given by the users. The logic jumps mechanic allows you to establish branching, to direct the participants through the questionnaire. In this way, depending on the answer given by the user, some questions will be shown or others.
This feature will allow you to generate a totally individualized experience. The questions are personalized according to their needs and interests, which makes it possible to obtain much more detailed information from the participants.
2. Ideas and examples.
- Gift configurator or product recommender. Depending on whether the product is for men or women, depending on their age, their likes and dislikes, you will be able to display questions, to finally show them a result as personalized as possible.
- Satisfaction surveys or questionnaires. Depending on the answers given by the respondent, new questions are shown according to the answers given, to get more information about it.
- Game-style quizzes, in which the participant is asked to discover an experience or a trip that best suits him/her.
3. Step by step.
3.1. Create the campaign.
First, you must create your campaign and configure the basic setting. Is it your first time creating a campaign with Cool Tabs? In the following tutorial, we will show you how to configure the basic sections of a campaign, as well as other recommended settings, to ensure its proper functioning and maximize results.
How to get started on creating a campaign: basic settings.
If you have any questions during the process, you can contact us at help@cool-tabs.com.
3.2. Set the quiz questions and answers.

1) Go to the 'Quiz' section.
2) Check the '
3) Add and personalize the quiz questions and answers.
You can check the following tutorials:
3.3. Set the branching.
Once you have the quiz ready, go to the 'Logic Jumps' section of your campaign edition, and activate it by checking the 'Enable logic jumps' checkbox. Then, save the configuration, go back to the edition, and click on 'Questions flow management'.
In questions flow management, you will find a screen divided in two.
- On the left, you have the 'Paths edition', in which you will have to configure the crossroads.
- On the right, you will find a diagram that you are creating and that is very useful to visualize the quiz.
To start configuring the paths, in 'Diagram', click on the first question you have created, in 'Path editing', configure and add the fork. Within the path editing, you will see the questionnaire you have created, the question of the questionnaire, and below, with a different color, the type of answer you have chosen. This is where you must set the forks and conditions.
Depending on the type of response you have configured, you will see different conditions:
- is equal to/is not equal to
- is/is not
- contains/does not contain
- greater than/less than
- before/after
- ...
If the user answers the question meeting the condition you have set, the next question you select in the 'Then...' field will appear. If they do not meet the condition, they will be redirected to the question or content you select in the 'In any other case, go to...' option.
Below, you can see it with an example.
In the following image, you can see an example. To the question of what is the capital of Brazil, if the participant answers correctly, choosing Brasília, she/he will pass to the next question of what is the capital of Bulgaria. If he/she answers wrongly in São Paulo, he/she will be shown the final failure screen.
When setting up the forks, keep in mind that no question can be left without setting and that they have to point to a final screen.
3.3.1. Types of answers.
As we have just mentioned, depending on the type of answer you have configured, one or other options will appear to indicate the paths of the quiz.
A) Textual answer, the participant writes the answer.
In this type of answer, textual, you will have to establish as a condition that the answer written by the user is the same, different, that it begins or ends with a letter/number or that it contains or does not contain certain characters.
Type the answer to be given by the participant in the blank field just to the right of the condition. You can set one or several conditions. If you add several conditions, an option "Complies with... all conditions or any conditions" will appear. In this way, if any or all of the conditions are met, the user will move on to the question you define in the "Then..." option.
B) Single-answer multiple choice.
In this type of answer, you have the option to choose between several options that you have previously defined. The tool gives the option to choose whether the answer chosen by the participant "is/is not".
In case it is the correct answer, you can indicate which is the next question the user will see in "Then...". In any other case, define what will be the next question in "In any other case, go to...".
C) Multiple answers multiple choice (the user can choose one or several options).
For the multi-answer option, the configuration is similar to the previous case. In the options offered by the drop-down, you will find the conditions contains/does not contain and is/is not.
In addition, to the left of the answers you have defined, a checkbox will appear in which you will have to choose the answers you want to be valid in order to fulfill the condition.
D) Star rating between 1 and N.
This option offers a type of numerical answer in which you can define the range in which the user's answer has to be in order to direct him/her toward one path or another. The conditions you will find are: less than, is less than or equal to, is greater than, is greater than or equal to.
Indicates a condition and a number. We see it with an example, in the image below. If the participant's answer is in the range 3-5, he/she will be redirected to question 13.
E) Custom rating between 0 and N.
The configuration of the conditions with this type of answer is similar to the previous one.
F) Answer to choose from a drop-down list (to choose from among many options).
With this type of answer, you have to define, on a dropdown, the options that you have previously chosen. Here, you can decide whether the option chosen (or not) by the user will lead him/her to one path or another.
G) Answer to choose from a drop-down, but with individual answers.
This option is the same as the previous one, but in this case, you have previously defined each answer individually (for example, assigning points to each answer).
H) The participant must choose a date.
In this option, you can define the path so that if the participant, according to the conditions, chooses an earlier or later date, you can define one path or the other.
3.3.2. Question/answer types without conditions.
Here are the question/answer types that are not subject to conditions.
Note that, although they are not subject to conditions, you will be able to define that what is answered in another question is a condition for the current question.
A) Question with no answer (content will be displayed to users).
With this type of answer, the participant will be able to view any type of content (HTML, banner, image, video, etc.) The user will not have to answer anything in this question. This option is valid in case you want the user to view some content that is related to the next question.
B) The participant must upload an image.
C) The participant must upload a video.
D) The participant must upload a file (PDF, Word, Excel).
E) Validate a code or coupon according to the options you configure in the "Code Validation" section.
In these options, the participant will only have to upload this content. To use this type of answer, by carrying out a "logical path", you can create a pre-question asking, for example: "Do you have a photo of your purchase receipt? Yes/No." or "Do you have a discount code? Yes/No." If yes, you can define that the user has to upload such content in the next question.
F) Matrix with multiple answer options and single choice*.
G) Matrix with multiple answer options and multiple choice*.
H) Matrix with textual answers. The participant has to type the answer*.
*All Matrix answer types also have no option to set conditions.
3.4. Set the final screens.
