Type of Questions and Anwers you can include in a Questionnaire or Survey

 

1. Introduction.

The Cool Promo or Cool Promo White Label applications, included in the Gold and Diamond plans, respectively, allow you to create surveys or quizzes with dynamic questions and answers of different types. In this way, you will be able to create different models of questionnaires, such as opinion surveys, personality tests, quizzes by stages, with points for correct answers, by personalized rating (NPS), or with time limits, among others.

In this tutorial, we are going to show you all the types of questions and answers available in Cool Tabs.

2. Quiz question and answer categories.

You can configure the questions and answers of your quiz from the 'Quiz' section of the campaign edition. Once you add a question, you will be able to configure the answer type for that question.

 

2.1. Question with text (and/or image) + written response.

The textual answers option allows participants to be creative or to express their opinion openly.

Ask a question about your products or services or about what your survey or quiz is about and select, under 'Answer types', the option 'Text answer, the participant has to type the answer'.

If you wish, you can accompany the question with an image.

 

 

2.2. Question with text (and/or image) + answer by star rating between 1 and N.

With this type of answer, you will be allowing the participant to give a valuation of between 1 and the maximum number of stars that you decide. It is a resource widely used in opinion polls when evaluating products or services. Select the Star Rating option from 'answer types' and indicate the maximum number that can be given in the answer.

 

 

2.3. Question with text (and/or image) + answer using numeric rating.

As for the previous option, this is a type of answer that is frequently used in opinion surveys to evaluate products or services. Through the personalized score, you will be able to carry out questionnaires that will allow you to measure the NPS (Net Promoter Score). 

 

 

2.4. Question with text + reply with drop down.

By setting the type of answer using the drop-down, you will be offering the participants a range of answers that they will have to choose from, limiting them to the options that you put forward. With this type of answer, only one answer can be chosen.

 

 

2.5. Question with text (and/or image) + answer with dropdown, but with individual answers.

This type of answer is very similar to the previous one but allows you to assign points to each answer.

In 'Answer types' select the option 'Answer from a dropdown (with points per answer)'.

 

2.6. Question with text (and/or image) + answer with text to be chosen from several options.

If we want to create or simple quiz this is the perfect type of question. We ask a question and we offer the participants different options from which to choose one.

 

 

 

2.7. Question with text + answer with text and image to choose from several options.

This option is similar to the previous question type, but we include a photograph. It is a good option for including images of the products or services referred to in the answer.

The size of the personalized images that accompany each answer is 300x168px.

 

 

2.8. Question with text + answer with text, image, and description to choose from several options.

This type of answer adds a description to each answer option. In the descriptions of our example, we refer to the different locations of the images, but if we refer to our products or services in the quiz, we could include the name, price, or even the reference of them.

 

 

2.9. Question with text + answer with images to choose from several options.

This answer option can be used if we want to create a quiz or very visual survey or if for example, the participants have to guess a character, destination, etc. with the information that is given when formulating the question.

 

 

 

2.10. Question with text and image + answer with image and description to be chosen from several options.

We can ask the question in our quiz or questionnaire through text, image, or both options. For this type of question, the text is accompanied by an image and in the answer type the participants are given different images with accompanying descriptions as a legend, from which they must choose one.

If you decide to include an image that either contains the question or accompanies the question, you should know that the optimal size of the images for personalized questions is 628x353px.

 

 

2.11. Question with text and video + text answer to choose from several options.

Another option you have when formulating the quiz question is to include a video that the participants have to answer. You can include a YouTube video or upload your own video. The optimal size for the video to be displayed correctly and for the participants not to have to scroll too much is 560x315px.

 

 

2.12. Question with text + video answer to choose from several options.

A second type that includes video is the one that allows for the inclusion of video in the answers section. The size of videos is automatically adjusted to 230x230px, as it allows them to be correctly displayed.

 

 

2.13. Question with text and image + answer using videos to choose from several options.

Another possibility is not only to show video in the answer options but also to include text. In our example, we have also included an image to accompany the question.

 

 

2.14. Text and background image for question + answer with text to be chosen from several options.

If you have chosen to create a quiz or questionnaire this as visual as possible, we recommend this type of question, which includes a background image with the question and different answers, from which the participant will have to select one.

In this case, the size of the background image is 660x660px. In order not to distort the image, we recommend that you choose a square photograph.

As for the number of answers you can include, there is no maximum but be aware that it is optimized for a maximum of eight. If you're going to include more, make sure that the result you end up with fits what you need.

 

 

2.15. Question with text + multiple answers with text.

We have seen different examples with the option to select a single answer, but there is also the possibility that participants have to choose their answer from a range of options and can select any quantity between zero and all of them. To do this, select the multiple answer option from 'answer types'.

You can set the user to mark a minimum and a maximum number of answers for that question. That way, if he/she does not mark the set minimum or tries to mark more, the application will indicate that he/she cannot move on to the next question.

 

 

2.16. Question with text + multiple answers with images.

Another option with the multiple answers typology is to include images instead of text. In this way, participants would have to choose their answers among several images.

 

 

2.17. Question with text and image + answer with text to be chosen from several options + 'correct answer' feedback.

This is one of the most used question types used in quizzes. A question is created that can be accompanied by an image and the user is given different answers from which they have to choose one. They are immediately told if they have been successful or not and given feedback that usually includes text that explains the correct answer.

 

 

2.18. Question with text (and/or image) + answer with text + auto-complete option.

This other type allows you to ask a question and offer participants several answers via a drop-down menu. So that the participant does not have to search for his answer among so many answer options, you can enable auto-completion.

 

 

2.19. Question with text (and/or image) + answer with text to be chosen from several options + text answer.

When offering answers to participants, we have the possibility not only to set a closed answer but also to enable a field for the user to write their own answers. This way the participant will be able to choose their answer from the different options that we give to them or, if none apply, to write another one.

In addition to including the text answer field for the participant to complete, we can customize the default message that we want to appear. We see it with an example: We ask the users which aspect is most important for them when making a reservation for accommodation. For the answer type we select for the answer to be chosen from several options (location, price, services, or others), and, in the latter 'other' option, we enable the text question field for the participant to write what they want and personalize it (write their answer).

 

 

2.20. Question without answer.

Another option we have when creating the quiz is to include only content, which the participant will view, without giving the option to answer. That content can be HTML, banner, image, video, etc. To do this, we have to leave the question field blank and, in 'answer types', select the 'Question without an answer (the user will only see content)' option.

One of the main uses of this type of content is to show advertising to users who are completing a quiz. That way, it will look like a video with advertising or a banner will pop up between one question and another.

It is also very useful to use this type of answer to show an image or video about which you will ask one or several questions in the next step of the quiz. We will see it with an example:

 

 

2.21. Text question + answer with image or video uploaded by the participant.

With this type of question/answer, we ask a question to the user and we give the option for them when answering to upload content either in the form of image or video. We can use this functionality as one more question of our quiz or to create a photos or videos competition.

• Text question + participant answer with an image: be aware that the possibility of uploading more than one photo is only available for Cool Promo White Label.

 

• Text question + participant answer with a video: participants can upload their video from YouTube or Vimeo.

 

 

In addition, you can enable the option for users to upload their video directly from their mobile or desktop so that they do not have to upload it beforehand to any video platform. Keep in mind that this option is only available for Cool Promo White Label and includes the upload of 50 videos. Once that number is exceeded, there is an additional cost of 50 euros per 100 videos.

 

2.22. Text question + answer with a date.

With this type of question/answer, we ask the user a question and give them the option to choose a date when answering.

 

 

2.23. Text question + answer with a file.

This answer option allows the user to upload a file to participate.

You can include a description that will accompany the question, in which you can give further guidelines on the content to be uploaded, format, etc.

 

 

2.24. Validate a code or coupon according to the options you configure in the 'Code Validation' section.

This type allows you to ask the participant to enter a code, which you have previously distributed, for example, on the purchase receipt.

In 'Types of responses', select the response option 'Validate a code or coupon' and, in the 'Coupons' section of the campaign edition, activate the option 'Enable coupons or code validation'.

 

 

2.25. Matrix with multiple answers and single choice.

Matrix question types are only available for Cool Promo White Label campaigns.

This typology allows formulating, within the same question, different questions that share answer options. The questions and answers are distributed in table format.

Example: in a satisfaction questionnaire, we want to know the user's experience after contracting a service. To do this, we set up a matrix composed of a main question, a set of elements to be evaluated by the user, and a set of common answers.

 

 

2.26. Matrix with multiple answers and multiple choices.

In this case, the user can choose more than one option for their answers.

 

 

2.27. Matrix with a text answer. The participant has to type an answer.

This option allows typing the answer.

 

 

2.28. Swipe answer.

This is an answer type that allows the participant to answer by swiping to the right or to the left between the different answer options that are presented.

In 'Answer types', select the 'Swipe (Tinder type)' answer option.

2.29. Select answers in the correct order.

This other typology allows participants to select answers in order of preference. It is also useful for knowledge quizzes, as it allows points to be awarded for correct answers.

 

 

2.30. Sports game forecast.

This is a type of answer, designed for betting pools or pools on sporting events, in which you have to guess the result of a match. The participant only has to write his prediction, filling in the answer numerically or textually, depending on the configuration you choose.
