3.2. Configure the basic settings.
3.3. Configure the Swipe functionality.
3.4. Configure the final screens.
1. Introduction.
Cool Tabs allows you to set up a quiz or a survey with swipe response options (Tinder style), in which the participant has to swipe to the right or to the left to answer.
The Swipe answer mode implies a much faster and more intuitive way to participate in a quiz, especially from a mobile device. A dynamic action that enhances the user experience.
The Cool Promo and Cool Promo White Label applications, included in the Gold and Diamond plans of the platform, respectively, are the ones that will allow you to configure this type of quiz.
You can also create a Swipe Quiz with the 7-day free trial, which allows you to test any of our plans.
2. Ideas and examples.
You can use the Swipe answer functionality in:
- A quiz-type survey in which no categories or points are assigned for correct answers.
- A personality quiz in which, depending on the user's answers, categories are assigned.
- A knowledge quiz in which points are given for correct answers.
3. Step by step.
The configuration of the Swipe functionality will depend on the type of quiz or survey you want to create. For either option, you must first create a campaign with our Cool Promo or Cool Promo White Label applications.
3.1. Create your campaign.
1) Log in to your Cool Tabs account. If you are not registered yet, you can check the tutorial: How to create an account on Cool Tabs.
2) Create a new campaign by clicking on the 'Create campaign' button. If you are using the platform for the first time, you will directly see the app catalog.
3) Select Cool Promo or Cool Promo White Label, depending on whether you have a Gold or Diamond plan, respectively. Click on the 'Start' button.
3.2. Configure the basic settings.
Complete the first sections of your campaign. These are related to the register, basic data, design, dates, and entry form.
Please note that some sections of the campaign edition do not necessarily apply to your campaign (instant wins, viral ranking, coupons…).
If you have any doubts or questions during the process, do not hesitate to contact us at help@cool-tabs.com
You can also help yourself in the following tutorials, in which we explain in more detail what you can include in each section:
3.2.1. Register.
Determine how the participants have to register for the campaign.
You can opt for social login or anonymous login (the participant does not register with a social network, but must complete the form).
3.2.2. Basic data.
- Name: this is the name of your campaign so that you can identify it internally in the list of your campaigns.
- Where you want users to access: by default, it will be the microsite that we provide when generating a campaign with Cool Tabs.
3.2.3. Design.
In the 'Design' section you can customize everything related to the appearance of the campaign: main image, background image, descriptive text, font, colors…
You can use the options we give you by default, include your own HTML, or use the more customized option with our advanced configuration.
We explain this section in more detail in the tutorial How to design your campaign with Cool Promo or Cool Promo White Label.
3.2.4. Dates.
In this section, indicate the start and end dates on which your campaign will be visible.
3.2.5. Entries.
Set the start and end dates of the participation (these usually coincide with the campaign start dates).
In the 'Restrictions' tab, you can determine the number of times a user can participate.
3.2.6. Entry form.
Configure the 'Entry Form' section, with the fields you want the participants to fill in: name, surname, email…
If you are not interested in capturing user data or do not need their data to run a sweepstake among participants, you can not enable the participation form.
If you need to add additional fields, you can include them in the 'Custom Entry Form' section.
3.3. Configure the Swipe functionality.
Once you have completed the basic aspects, go to the 'Quiz' section.
Depending on the type of quiz or survey you want to set up, check if it is a point-based quiz, a personality quiz, or if you do not want to assign points or categories.
Then, add and configure the questions that you are going to show in your test or survey. Below, we explain how to do it for a personality quiz and for a points-based quiz.
3.3.1. Personality quiz with Swipe.
1) Add and write the question that the users will have to answer.
2) In the tab 'Answers', select the option Type of answers: Swipe.
3) Click on the 'Add image' button. Upload the image for the different answers that the participants will have to answer and assign one category or another, depending on whether the user chooses to swipe to the right or to the left. These categories should correspond to the final screens that you will show to the participants and that you will configure later.
You can also include a title for each image, which will be displayed just above it.
Add as many images as you want. Note that the images will be displayed with the original proportion and will be resized to a maximum of 320 px high on mobile devices and 290 px high on desktops, to fit the default layout. In addition, images must comply with the general formatting and weight rules set out in this tutorial.
You can configure and customize the colors and texts of the swipe buttons by clicking on the 'Swipe' tab.
By default, the buttons are set to display the check symbol (✓), above the green button, and the x symbol (x), above the red button. However, you can edit them to replace these symbols with emoticons. Click on 'change' to bring up the emoji selector.
You can also choose whether you want the button to be transparent or not. So, if you select an emoji, the button will be without color. In this case, it will look like this:
Example of how a personality quiz with swipe answers would look like:
<< Try the DEMO: Personality Quiz with Swipe >>
3.3.2. Knowledge quiz with Swipe.
1) Add and write the question that the users will have to answer.
2) In the "Answers" tab, you must select the option Type of answer: Swipe.
3) Add an image and set the points you are going to give the user if they select to swipe to the right or to the left. You can include as many images as the number of images you want your Swipe quiz to have.
As in the personality quiz, you have the possibility to include a title that will accompany the image, as well as to customize the colors and text of the answer buttons.
You can also replace the symbols of the swipe buttons with emoticons, by clicking on “change”, so that the emoji selector appears. Or choose to make the button transparent.

3.4. Configure the final screens.
Once you have configured your survey or quiz and the swipe functionality, it is time to configure the final screens. These are the message that the user will see when he/she completes his/her participation.
3.4.1. Questionnaire or quiz as a survey, without points or categories.
In the 'Final Screen' section, configure the message that will be shown, by default, to all participants.
If you only want to include an image in the final screen, in the 'Content' tab of the 'Final Screen' section, check the box 'Show an image in the final screen' and upload your image.
If you want to show a text, enable the option 'Show a text on the final screen'. When you check the checkbox, an editor will open in which you can include text, images, GIFs, or HTML. The editor also supports images, so, if you wish, you can have two images, here and in the specific field for uploading an image.
3.4.2. Personality or knowledge quiz (with points or categories).
If you want to display a different screen depending on the results obtained in the quiz, enable the option '' Then, click on 'Individual final screen management.'
You can add as many new screens as there are result options for your quiz. Fill in the information for each screen.
1. Details and conditions.
Depending on the type of quiz or questionnaire you create, in the 'Details and conditions' section, you will have to indicate:
- In a personality quiz, you must establish which category of answers (majority of A, B...) the participants must select in order to see that screen. For example, in a personality quiz with four answer choices per question, there will be four categories: A, B, C, and D.
- In a points-based quiz, you must indicate the minimum and maximum score that the participant must obtain to see that screen. For example, a result screen for those who score from 0 to 4 points, another one for 5-8 points, and a last one for 9-10 points.
2. Design.
Include a creative and/or message in the 'Design' section.
You can complete and customize the fields related to viralization on social networks so that users can share their participation.
3.5. Other configurations.
3.5.1. Legal conditions.
You can include the legal terms of your campaign, as well as add additional checkboxes that you need for the processing of participants' personal data for different purposes. For example, the creation of social profiles, the subscription to a newsletter, the acceptance of sending commercial information…
3.5.2. Go viral.
Encourage the viralization of your campaign by allowing participants to share the campaign and their participation on social networks. In the 'Go viral' section, add the image, title, and text you want to appear when users share the campaign or their participation.
We recommend you customize the messages displayed on social networks after sharing. You can also refer to the tutorial How to customize messages shared on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks.
4. Other specifications.
If your personality test is linked to sweepstakes. Once the participation period has ended, you will be able to make the selection by following the tutorial How to select winners and obtain your Certificate of Validity.
It is possible to combine the Swipe functionality with a quiz with paths. In this way, you can ask a first question that acts as a filter to display the user one content or another.
Pathways Quizzes can only be used from the Diamond plan onwards. In addition, it requires a specific activation. If you are interested in including the paths' functionality in your Diamond plan, please contact us at help@cool-tabs.com, to get a quote.
