1. Introduction

With Cool Tabs you can create a Scratch & Win campaign to give away prizes instantly. Participants fill in a form and scratch three boxes to find out on the spot whether the winning combination is hidden underneath.

The setup is similar to a Jackpot campaign, but instead of a slot machine with three reels, three scratch-off boxes are displayed. This mechanic is combined with Instant Win, which lets you schedule prizes by date and time and select winners randomly and instantly — no waiting for a draw result.

If a user participates at the moment a prize is scheduled, they'll see the winning combination when they scratch. If no one participates at that exact moment, Instant Wins with a past scheduled time remain queued and are awarded as new participants come in — they are never left undelivered.

2. Step by step

2.1. Create the campaign

Start by creating your campaign and configuring the basic settings. If this is your first time using Cool Tabs, check out the tutorial on how to configure the basic sections of a campaign.

2.2. Configure the Instant Wins

The Jackpot in Scratch & Win mode is built on the Instant Win mechanic. The next step is to configure the winning moments in which prizes will be awarded. Follow the steps in the tutorial: How to create an Instant Win campaign to give out instant prizes.

Once done, you'll need to configure the symbols shown when participants scratch the boxes, as explained below.

2.3. Configure the Jackpot in Scratch & Win mode

After completing the previous sections, go to the Gamifications section and follow these steps:

1) Activate the Jackpot option and click Configure.

2) Enable the Jackpot in Scratch & Win mode option.

3) Add each of the symbols that will appear in the scratch-off boxes.

Main configuration

Upload the images that will be shown behind the boxes by clicking Add Symbol. Add as many as you need, keeping in mind that you must upload at least six different symbols.

For each symbol you'll need to:

• Give it a name for internal identification — this won't be visible to participants.

• Upload the image in JPG, PNG, or GIF format (with or without transparency), sized 180 × 140 px with a 9:7 aspect ratio. The default background color of the boxes is white.

Save the settings to continue customizing your campaign.

2.4. Link the Instant Wins with a symbol

The last step is to link each Instant Win to a symbol, so that winners of that Instant Win see the corresponding winning combination in the scratch-off boxes.

1) Go back to Individual Instant Winners Management, in the Instant Win section, and edit each Instant Win.

2) Go to the Jackpot section of each Instant Win.

3) Open the selector and choose the symbol to link to that Instant Win.

For example, the "Travel Winner" Instant Win is linked to the travel symbol. The winner of that Instant Win will see that symbol as the winning combination in their scratch-off boxes.

When you finish configuring each Instant Win, save your changes.
