3.2. Configure the participations.
1. Introduction.
With Cool Tabs, you can create a referral contest in which participants, in order to win or have more chances to win, have to recruit friends to participate.
You can make a random draw among all participants or only among those who have achieved a certain number of referrals. The more friends they refer, the more chances they have to win.
This type of contest will allow you to generate virality and increase the number of leads captured.
2. Example.
Next, we are going to show you how a referral contest works, using our Referral Contest Demo as an example.
1) The user accesses the campaign landing page and participates. In this case, to participate, they must select what type of festival-goer they are from the options presented and complete a data form.
2) When they complete their participation, on the final screen, they are informed and encouraged to share their participation.
3) The participant will have to click on the 'Share' button to display the modal with the sharing options that you, as the campaign administrator, have configured.
4) They will share the campaign, for example, on WhatsApp.
5) The participant's friends will have to open the link, which will take them to the campaign landing page, and complete the form to participate. Using a cookie, when they complete their participation, we will identify who referred them.
3. Step by step.
3.1. Create your campaign.
Configure the basic aspects of your campaign. If it's your first time with Cool Tabs, check the following tutorial with the recommended settings to ensure it works properly and maximize results.

3.2. Configure the participations.
The most interesting aspect of this type of campaign, in which users actively spread the word about the contest, is to make the list of participants visible. This way, participants will see which position they hold in the referral ranking.
To enable the list of participants:
1) Go to the 'Participations' section and click on the 'Entries List' tab.
2) Activate the checkbox 'Enable public participation'. This page will be visible to everyone. Participants will be displayed with their name and avatar.
By default, we show the first name and the initial of the last name, but you can configure it to display the full name in public listings.
You can also enable an individual page for each participant, where more data will be displayed.
3) Determine the number of participants you want displayed per page.
4) Check the option to sort participants by number of referrals. This will display the participant ranking based on the number of friends they have recruited.
You can also choose whether to enable links to display an order based on other criteria (date, score...).
Below you can see an example of a participant list in a referral contest.
3.3. Other configurations.
3.3.1. Winner selection.
Once the contest participation period is over, you will be able to select the winners. To start the selection, you can consult the tutorial: How to select winners and obtain your Certificate of Validity.
In a referral contest, you can select winners among all participants, among those who have achieved a minimum number of referrals, or only among those who have recruited the most friends.
Choose winners among all participants: simply fill in the start and end date fields, leave the rest of the options empty, and click Filter.
Choose winners among the N participants with the most referrals: fill in the start and end date fields. Then check the 'Choose from TOP participants' option. The draw will take place at random among the N participants who have recruited the most friends.
Choose winners among participants who have achieved a minimum number of referrals: fill in the start and end date fields. Then check the 'Filter by conditions' option and set the minimum number of referrals a participant must have achieved to enter the draw. You can also award extra entries for referrals obtained.
We advise against rewarding only the participant with the highest number of referrals. This condition can lead to dishonest practices by some participants that may jeopardize your contest.
4. Other specifications.
A referred participation is one that comes from another participant through the campaign link they shared. To count as a referral, the invited user must complete their participation. Otherwise, it will not be counted as a referral.
This type of contest is available in the Gold and Diamond plans of Cool Tabs.
You can also create your referral contest with the 7-day free trial, which lets you test any of our plans.
